Here is the workflow I used to create vertical reels from student sermon recordings:

• Import sermon recording into a project with vertical dimensions (1080x1920)
• Basic editing
  • Apply SM Audio preset to clip (compression for consistent audio levels)
  • Resize video clip to fill the vertical dimensions (recording is framed wide so this can be done)
• Review and clip moments for social
  • Find moments that would be helpful to students to see on social
  • Clip moments into short videos (less than 3 minutes).
• Manual Tracking in Final Cut (can be replaced with automated tracking)
• Add captions in Edits by Instagram
  • Double check captions then export from Edits.
  • This is helpful for Instagram as posts from edits are boosted in the algorithm.
